Hey, I'm back again!

Yo old bloggie, as you would have noticed, I'm undergoing a blog dry spell and haven't been here for two weeks! Well, I'm sure all my fans will be really glad to see this post up here. Hahaha..at least it show a beginning to the end of my blog dry spell, yah?

Actually I had been back everyday to read others' blogs but just didn't feel like blogging my own stuff. I'm actually quite inspired by Danping's 'new' layout and I've tried to make a major change since blogger had came up with some nicer templates recently. However, my blog doesn't seem to fit into those templetes..sigh, maybe my screen is too big and they don't show up properly. If that's the case, I can pray that probably it'll be alright when others read it. BUT! I suspect that I'm the biggest fan of my own blog anyway, so if it doesn't show up aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, it's quite irritating. That's the problem with being too rich, and getting a 17" flat panel monitor! Hahaha..

Or, I suspect that I'm been tampering with my templete too much that it become a templete of it's own.. and my blog won't fit easily into other templetes. And I'm not in the mood to go through all those HTML to make everything right again.

Nevertheless, I'm still very tempted to make a major change to my blog soon. Hahaha.. so you keep your eyes on this space! And may I add, it's Monday afternoon and I'm not suffering from Monday blues as I'm having hols now!!! It's only for this week, but still, better than nothing right?

Heehee, anyway this week is like a holiday week for me, even though my students are slogging away like hell for their exams. For the first time, my desk is so empty and I'm spending my free periods making hot milo, kopi and even reading story books at my desk while I'm shaking my legs! Well well..I feel so much like singing on my way home everyday as my tuitions slots is also much fewer this week. I'm wondering what's killing me? My tuitioning or teaching or both? Lalallaa..let me enjoy the whole week and worry about next week's lesson only when it's here. Anyway, this is already the 8th week and 2 more weeks I'm outta here?

Doesn't it sound familiar? I realised that when I was part-timing the last term, I said the same thing while looking forward to come and do serious teaching in my current school. And now I CAN'T wait to get out of here, and move on to NIE.. life is like this huh?

Anyway, exams is over and next week is back to normal lessons again! Arrghh..but let me enjoy my weekend while it's here as my Saturday is OFF with a capital 'O' for a change! =)

Also, I've sort of 冤枉 blogger as I've finally found my long lost draft. *sheepish grin* After you log on the respective blog, there'll be a list of the posts you've made, with a preview window if you click on it. Then above, I realised that I'm only looking at all the published posts but there's a drop down list to change to viewing of drafts. Thus yo and behold! My draft is back, and I've cut and pasted it above.. Hee hee..

Okie dokie, I was going to tell you guys that I'm reading LOTR part II right now.. was going to blog about it but my inspirations disappeared after the previous draft disappeared and I got pretty frustrated (meaning I was still really pretty when I was frustrated, ha!). Anyway, let's not digress, I went to Danping's blog and she had updated her blog about my current readings, yeah! Great minds think alike man! Finishing the LOTR books is my new year resolution for this year (refer to my 29/12/2003 blog), and I can't believe that I've finished the first book within 2 weeks even though last year I took MONTHS to get past the few few chapters! And now I'm on my way to the second book.. Pippin and Merry had met up with the Ents, while Gandalf had miraculously appeared again after falling in the Moria mines in the first part. Woah..that's where I am.

Like what Danping mentioned, I suddenly saw light about many parts of LOTR after I read the books, think I didn't understand the flow of the story very well when I was watching the trilogy over the past few years. But still, was greatly 'WOW' by the effects and of course, Orlando Bloom! It's so much more pleasant to enjoy the books imagining him as Legolas.

Oh yah..do you know this?
Lord of the rings is often erroneously called a trilogy, but it's actually a SINGLE novel that's sometimes being published into 3 parts.

Yep, and I was really hunting all over Singapore to get the 3 parts individually.. didn't want to bring the bulky volume all over the place but that's the only version Popular is selling nowadays. And I finally found it at MPH.. thanks goodness.

Blogger got a new interface!

Hey hey, wasn't back for a week or so, and didn't realise that blogger got so many coolz stuff now. Anyway, was feeling really happy (like I'm using window XP for the first time) while I was trying out all the functions.. I typed a long post and clicked 'save as draft' (one of the new function) but my post anticlimax-ly disappeared. I clicked here and there to look for my post among the newly designed blogger tabs but it was gone.. Argghh! As a last resort I went to scan the help topics to get my draft back, but alas! I followed the directions and I guess my draft is gone for good. Sigh, instead of happily navigating around the new blogger, I've decided to come back to retype a new post. So my experiment is a warning to all the rest to be careful before you try out all the new functions and delete your whole blog by mistake. Hee heee..

Okay, just in case I'll bore the non Blogger users by talking about all this stuff they don't understand, let me move on to the next topic..

This is my 175th post for this blog!! All thanks to the blogger new function which keep count of the no. of the posts..I can keep track of the no. of posts I have now. I was pleasantly surprised as I didn't realised that I had been here so many times. Yeah..bloggie go..

Poor Principal, due to his principles

Yeah, you can be sure that the news of Mr Ng Lee Huat, the former principal of Nan Chiau High school had became the hot topics of the staff room during the past week. I had smelt it, heard snippets of it even before I saw it in the newspaper. Even our weekly staff contact time couldn't being prevented from digressing into it.

To Mr Lee, I would say that you've made a smart move. Being a principal is definitely a much more 'sai kang' job then holding a senior position at the ministry. Congratulations! Your pay check is intact and you've won the hearts of tens and thousands of people who didn't know you. You've made it to the headlines, forum, and even to my blog!! Yeah, and I guess it's right of you not to go back despite the petitions and all.. good horse don't eat the grass behind yah? For a moment, I would have thought that it's a conspiracy between you and the student who made the police report.. Hahaha..

Oh yah, before I carry on, I must make a disclaimer.. my comments above doesn't represent that of a teacher, but a boh liao blogger. Please don't try to quote me in Streats, Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow..thank you very much. By the way, the photo that I've put up above is not me, it's none other than my twin sister who is hundred times uglier than the real me! Wahhahaa...

I guess the above situation is a lose-lose situation for both the parents and the educators. The teachers now have even lesser liberty in disciplining their students, and the students will thus be left to turn into rotten eggs on their own and its the parents who have these spoilt eggs in their family in the end. The person who reported the case must be thinking that civil servants like the police, teachers and principals having nothing better to do, and that teachers are madcaps who takes pleasure out of punishing and scolding their students. What's even more astonishing is that the person who reported the case is a teacher from another school, and her god sister wasn't even the one who kena the whack on her head by the exercise book. The ironic thing is that, after the whole incident, the student's mum still said that she didn't know it will be so serious. If not serious, you report to the police for what??? Really nothing better to do huH?

That day, there was a girl in my class who scold strings of vulgarities at everyone like a mad dog. (All my other kids told me that it's her mum who taught her to say all that.) I was so angry that I stared hard at her and say “你欠打是吗?”The rest of my students all burst out laughing and said.. "Wah, teacher talk like gangster siah.." Hahaha.. even I felt like laughing at myself. Okay, next time I shall not be so vulgar, I'll just ask her "“你欠揍啊?”
Yo.. it's now very very late on Saturday night and very very early on Sunday morning. I'm so glad that the Labour day had arrived, first time I'm appreciating a holiday that falls on Saturday! Cos, I don't have to go for workshops, meet parents in school.. and no lessons at formation centre too! *wide grin* But sad to say, I've spent most of the day sleeping away and now it's gone in a wink! So now I can't bear to get back to sleep again, or should I say that I can't get back to sleep anymore. So more blogging!

Did I mention that I permed my hair last last Friday? Hmm..so far had been getting quite positive remarks from friends, colleagues and students. *wide grin again* Think so far my students are the ones who are the most straight-forward and come right up to me and asked what happened to my hair. But I guessed the Primary 1s haven't figure out what happened to teacher's hair (they only figured out it's still the same teacher) and the Pri 5 sometimes will comment that they prefer me with straight hair, tied up hair etc.. My colleagues must have observed the change in hairstyle but most of them did not comment about it directly or openly, though I've expected them to. Hmm..perhaps they DO have better things to do than to observe a change in their fellow colleagues hair, or are they just more subtle about fashion?

Meet up with the kayaking committee people today, sad to say that it's the only place I've went on my precious holiday. Been there mainly due to Miss Giam after her sad encounters at work this week, my passion for kayaking had actually miraculously died away after Ramunia and I think my mum had been waiting for this day to come for years. Whoa..4 months without touching the water is a total whole new record for me! But anyway, haven't seen the guys for a long time and they commented that I've become prettier! With my new hairdo and all...lallalala.. =) Heehee, then I see the rest with their sunburnt faces and wondered why I was doing all that for the past few years. Sigh..Think getting away from NP and kayaking can really make someone prettier. At least don't have to worry about spending money on pedicure, new hairdo and wasting it all away. But for me, I'm a weird case who's going back to studies soon..and I highly suspect that I'll be back to the kayaking scene maybe sometime after June?? But meanwhile, as boh chup as I am, there's still a lot of obligations for me to complete my duties, stuff that I've promised to do etc... Haiz, after the coming week, it's IPC again!

Think I haven't mention to many people that my overseas expedition at the end of the year will be at Yunnan, Dali of China and we'll be building bio-gas tanks for the people there. Does it sound familiar?? Yesh, you may find it hard to believe but it's the exact location and project that Miss Giam was supposed to do with her Lumos people last year, but it was put off due to SARS. Hmm, think it's my first trip to China and I'm still looking forward to enjoy the scenery there, but think I'll be more keen if we're embarking on a trip to Mongolia or Xinjiang. Somemore the project sounds stale thanks to Giam's publicity and excitement last year. Hahaha.. but nmind, I shall go there and dig all the shit on her behalf. I guess I'm making full use of my hols this year when I have the finacial capability and time to do so.. Next time, might not be possible to embark on such a long trip anymore due to limited leave and stuff. Also planning to visit Australia this year with good reasons too. Must start saving up!

Woah..I haven't been back for over a week!! I have lots of things to blog about, just can't seem to find the time to do any blogging the past few days. Sigh..too bad didn't have any update for Miss Wu when she's online amidst her super sickness.

Yah, and it seems that I've forgotten what I've wanted to blog about either. Sheesh.. Anyway, just some updates. I've been meeting over 120 different students for the past few days, and had pretended to be listening to them attentively while they read aloud a passage, telling me about a picture. Yesh, it's the oral exams week! I was pretty horrified when I'm sheduled to be in school by 8am every morning. And including my normal teaching hours..that will be 11 hours everyday!!! But god had helped me perserve through the two days by miraculously raining extremely heavily during dismissal times, so I had an good excuse not to go for tuitions. Hahahaa..and come home earlier to settle down in the comfort of a hot shower and my blankets.

It was pretty exciting, especially for Thurs. It was really pouring like pails of water coming down.. erm..like standing below a waterfall. On Wednesday, I still could make it to the nearest bus stop outside the school, but I barely walk for 10m and my pants are already soaking wet. Tiring..and I longed for my bed by then. On Thursday, I realised to my dismay that I've left my umbrella to dry at home, so there was no way I could get out of school. Super suay!! There were many teachers and students stucked in the school too, and it was already getting dark. In the end, most of the teachers managed to get a lift from others, or get someone to come and get them. And I was too paiseh to ask for a ride, but I was scared to be the only one left. Luckily, I thought of booking a cab to come and get me. Ha!! It was a very brilliant idea as I didn't get a drop of rain, and I left just in time when they're waiting for me to get out so they can close the gate. Woah...
