Hiee.. we're in the midst of Chinese New Year but the main celebration and 'bai nian' process with relatives are mostly over. We had an extended weekend for CNY this year and the best part is that another long weekend is coming up, so that we can follow up with friends that we haven't visit. There's so many invitations to go to so many houses this year that I'm really surprised too. Also lots of gatherings up with friends (secondary school, NP, Kayaking, even Hock Sui's frens) and meetings and so on.. The last time I've been to work was on Wednesday last week and I'm only expected to report for work on Wednesday again, so that's one whole week of hols. Yeah.. this month I really 'earned' my salary without much effort, considering the fact that I have the least classes to teach in FC. Though CNY hadn't been really as exciting/happening as I hoped it had been, well.. I'm still in the holiday mood. =)

It all started on CNY eve when I went for reunion dinner with my father's extended family at this restaurant at Allson Hotel at Bugis. As far as I can remember, we haven't done that for reunion dinner for a long time, and for the past few years.. had been going to Msia for reunion dinner with my mum's family instead. When age catches up, I think I quite appreciate such opportunities to see my grands and cousins again, even though I haven't got much things to say to them. Right after dinner, I walked over to Esplanade to join my friends for countdown. The whole CNY mood was right there as it was where River Ang Pao is, and the fireworks lasted for around ten minutes. It was really a treat! Still quite missed the first few years when we went chinatown for CNY countdown with Woon woon, the response from the team was much better but now there's only left the few of us every year who's still doing that. After esplanade, the plan was to go Chinatown to 'squeeze' with the crowd, but Casey left with Zhirong and Iela left with her boy boy as they're feeling tired (mrt service extended till 2am that morning). It was only left with Teck wee, Nicole and me..and I was feeling really tired as well. It was quite weird when there's only the 3 of us at Chinatown, so we left very quickly after we've gotten what we intended to buy from the night market. We stayed for less than an hour at chinatown and the crowd was still going strong after midnight to snatch all the very cheapo new year stuff. Teck Wee offered me a fun ride on his bike back home, and think I really enjoyed being a pillion rider even though friends and mum warned me that it's really dangerous. Heh.. I wouldn't mind getting free rides occasionally whenever Shan (teck wee's gf) is not around but guess I will be worried if Hock Sui really got a bike one day.
Yeah, and if that's true..god had given me the gift of sleeping non-stop without getting tired of it!

Yo bloggie..yoyo, all my fans, I'm back. =)

Had successfully conquered the waves of Ramunia, and I'm still feeling that this year had so far been really good to me. Hee hee..still crossing fingers for the events to unfold later on.

Back to Ramunia, it was far beyond my expectations in the aspects of enjoyment and fun, although the majesty of the waves are only half of what I expected. I was real lucky, and that was why I was back here in one piece. Lucky enough to get the cert also, though I felt that I did perform quite badly at times. Haiz..not up to it.. was quite regretful and feeling low at times. Of course, was really touched by the encouragement of surprisers like Giam, Lua and ermm..maybe Zhihao too, of my comrades like Miss Wu and Miss Tok and lastly having Lance around to tell me 'Ganbatte' all the time was comforting too. And how can I forget? I have to attribute my appreciations to Ah teck-the-great who was reaaaaal encouraging even though I fared rather badly at times, and of my handsome 4 star assessor Raymond from OBS who was so impressed with me that he didn't have any comments to make. Heh.. hopefully they won't land here to read my blog man! Okay, enough of my 'thank you' speech.. hee hee. Although I was expecting myself to be really in the clouds if I've ever make it, the trip back was somehow as happy as it should be. Hmm.. maybe I was just too exhuasted by the whole thing. Drained. Nevertheless, this is an experience that I'll always keep in my memory lane, tucked away somewhere.

This year's CNY is much earlier than usual, and we are now already left with two days before it's new year's eve. Realised that most people around me didn't have time to shop for clothes, yet I was lucky enough to buy a piece or two of new clothes a few weeks ago when shopping with my old friends at Far East. Even at home, usually Mum will put up decorations and goodies a week before...but till now she still didn't have the time to do it. The festive mood is not here yet. Tomorrow I'm off and she's on leave too, will spend the day dolling up the house and do some spring cleaning in my room(which I had been thinking about since last year's CNY, gosh!)

So far, had really been enjoying my work, even feel like zooming back to it during one of the not-so-great times at Ramunia. Think I'm just happy doing something that I like, I'm very glad too. Was conducting GEMS enrichment programme at NYPS last week, and went to their new campus to teach the kids. Was quite sad to see the piece of land which used to be my favourite home and playground turned into fresh buildings that I was totally unfamiliar with. Had heard that old school was torn down long ago..but didn't see what it had become. I was walking in for work early Saturday morning from Coronation plaza.. the small path, the ferocious dogs, the assorted private detached houses were so familiar to me, but greeting me was a building that was not what it had been. Think it must have been 6, 7 years ago since I last walked down that road. Well, that's really long! Everything changes, people changes and I think I had also changed a lot since that 6, 7 years ago. That's life.. More or less, I'm still quite satisfied what I had become, my metamorphosis. =)

Happy new year!

This is my first blog for this year.. so this is quite significant in a way. Hee hee.. The past few days of the year had really gone very well for me, attended a 4d3n chalet with all my favourite friends, met up with my squadmates (how i miss them!) and started on a great job which I really like. Even managed to go shopping for new year's clothes... Hmm, everything had been going on so well that I'm praying hard that the rest of the 51 weeks of the year will be just like this. Too good to be true, hee hee..but at least that's a good start for me. Seems like all my worries of the previous year are solved with me starting to work, and my tuition kids are back again after the hols. How I love them, and the extra income they are providing me, of course! Hopefully my Ramunia trip will be as good as what Giam had experienced the previous few days.. I'm only hoping that it'll be half as good and I'll be satisfied. I think that this is really a critical period (a stressful one!) for me at the moment, and after that's over I'll be just looking forward to CNY happily! Of course, CNY will still come whether I got my 4 star award or not.. but well.. just want to boost my morale and ego to greater heights for the coming new year! =P
